99% Invisible’s podcast Food Deserts is a very accessible and thorough introduction to how free market fundamentalists of the 1970s and ‘80s, in academe and the government, decided to simply ignore the anti-monopoly laws and regulations on the books since the Great Depression and even earlier. I won’t go further here.
